A Tafsir of Matthew 5:3 - Blessed are the Poor in Spirit
In Matthew 5:3, Hazoor Isa al-Masih taught, "Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven."
In this episode, we begin studying the Sermon on the Mount, the most beautiful taleem of Hazoor Isa al-Masih. He begins this teaching by describing what it means to be truly blessed.
To be blessed by God, we must first acknowledge the greatness of God. When we understand His greatness, we understand our spiritual poverty in contrast. When we realize our spiritual poverty, we are ready to turn our lives over to Him and let Him change our lives.
Perhaps the greatest difference between Hazoor Isa al-Masih and all the other religions of the world is this: Hazoor Isa al-Masih does not expect us to make ourselves pure or right or good. Instead, He asks us to bring our broken lives to Him. Then He, in His power and greatness, transforms us. But our first step to this blessing is recognizing that we are poor in spirit.
